Quite drastic because you have to cut a hole in the cupboard, but it is a cheaper and more versatile solution. All Sonos Controller reviews, submitted ratings and written comments become the sole property of Windows 7 download. I was Googling and found this where someone had mounted an iPad into a kitchen cupboard. Home page - here you can select source (left hand side) and control (right hand side) Here's a few photos from the StreamDeck - more proof of concept than anything, there is scope for improving graphics/layout There are also some newer models that are much more efficient eg Mele Quieter2, but upfront purchase cost is higher I'm in UK where energy costs are high, an PC that uses 30W will cost £60 a year, allowing for inflation over 10 years that will be £1000+ which isn't cool at all. These seem to be a good alternative to a Pi, and older models are very cheap and plentiful on eBay etc. I also looked into micro/ultra small form factor PCs running Windows, eg Lenovo M53. There are some articles online on how to run Win10ARM on a Pi4, I might have a go, (if my Pi4 ever arrives, been waiting since November!) although I don't know if the Stream Deck software will run under the Windows ARM environment. I did some more thinking and came to the conclusion that staying on Windows does have some advantage - the bulk of StreamDeck plugins are based around Windows - things like yours or the Spotify plugin etc, so for an easy life Windows is the way to go! Worst case I can sell the streamdeck on eBay! I'm not sure that by the time you've bought a Streamdeck + Pi (even if I could figure out how to make it work!) the numbers really add up, compared to buying a second hand iPad and just sticking that in a wall mount on a kitchen cupboard, but it's still interesting. I've been playing with StreamPi and Companion but from what I see while they are impressive work, they're not able to make use of the huge range of plugins developed for Elgato. The problem I have is I can't see how to run these sort of plugins on a Pi rather than a PC, which it really needs for 24/7 running. Especially handy for less technical users - they can come in and just hit a button to start their radio station playing from Sonos. Would be quite handy for say in the kitchen, can have a StreamDeck panel mapped to a load of Sonos favorites - so radio stations all tied to buttons plus some controls for volume etc. Hey - I really like this, good work, just bought a StreamDeck to try your plugin! Can't write the currently playing song to a file or copy it to the clipboard or anything like that. The plugin has to poll for status updates (to display the Album Art, Elapsed/Remaining time of the current song etc). You have to enter the IP address of the speaker to control manually but it's very easy to get the IP in the Sonos App (instructions provided within the plugin). The plugin is written in JavaScript, therefore it should work on Windows and MacOS.īecause the plugin is written in JavaScript there are also some limitations:
